# Filter data attribution

Version 2 and later include domain rules derived from EasyList and EasyPrivacy,
along with a small independently curated Japanese/international seed list.
The filter distribution (not the app source code) is provided under
Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 or later.

The candidate generator downloads:

These lists offer GPL-3.0-or-later or CC-BY-SA-3.0-or-later. For generated
derivative filter data, this project selects **CC BY-SA 3.0 or later**.

Changes: extract a conservative subset of domain-only ABP rules, remove domains
covered by exceptions and badfilter directives, restrict resulting Safari rules
to third-party requests, and merge the small independently curated seed list.
These files do not implement the complete behavior of either original list.

Each candidate retains the exact downloaded sources, their SHA-256 digests,
source URLs, and a machine-readable provenance file. When publishing a candidate,
include this attribution and the license links with the filter distribution.
If bundled in the app, expose this attribution and the modifications in the app
as well. The data license does not grant a trademark endorsement.
